'Tis the season…

And so on this almost the eve of Christmas I want to take a few minutes to wish all my readers a blessed and happy holiday and a wonderful new year. May you and your families enjoy good health and may those of you who have been hit hard by the recession get back on your feet again.

It's hard to believe 2009 is on the way out. I feel as though it just arrived. And with a Christmas Eve birthday looming, I am too well aware that the years are going faster and faster.

Carol and I didn't do a new Christmas book this year. Instead the publisher put our first two Christmas novels, Deck the Halls and The Christmas Thief into one volume. Carol designed the cover, two Christmas stockings hanging from the mantle and we're told it makes a really nice Christmas gift.

Last year's Christmas tale, Dashing Through the Snow came out in paperback last month and it's been sold to a producer for a TV movie. I'll have a walk-on part and maybe even get one line to speak. Carol, a trained actress, will be much more visible. It should be fun. In the past, I've done walk-ons for some of my movies and since I won the gold medal for dramatics at Villa Maria Academy a thousand years ago, I've always enjoyed the experience.

Holidays notwithstanding, I'm hard at work on the new book, The Shadow of Your Smile which will be published in April. Another few weeks and it will be finished. I love the writing process but my two favorite words are 'The End.' It's positively euphoric when the moment comes that the book is complete and I'm satisfied that it's a pretty good tale.

Years ago I wrote a Christmas story, A Gift to Remember that is semi-autobiographical. I thought you might enjoy seeing it (click here to read).

Cheers, Blessings, and Joy to one and all.
